Oakham Grange, which opened just 15 months ago, have just had their first CQC Inspection published.

The inspection looks in detail across many areas of the service and places focus on the safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership that is demonstrated.

The CQC representatives spoke with both the Oakham Grange team and their residents, as well as gain access to service records, and, most importantly, observe all levels of care and support.

The Oakham Grange team feel very proud of the report, in particularly the CQC’s view on the homes care ethos and relaxed atmosphere; ‘People were treated with kindness and respect. Staff showed us examples of how they made people feel they mattered. They knew people well and knew about the things that were important to them. The staff were skilled at communicating with people living with dementia. They made every effort to understand the person’s experience’.

Catherine Ferguson the Home Manager said…

“I’m so proud of the team here, they have worked so hard and our bespoke new build home is beautiful, it’s the team which brings the place to life. Although CQC Good is a positive result for our first inspection, we will use this as a base for Excellent in the future.”

Oakham Grange have been in the news before for their innovations and care ethos, such as their classic Morris Traveller car in the garden, often used as a conversation starter for those living with memory problems, its residents putting green and its early adoption of modern technology such as Famileo, which creates bespoke newsletters so residents are always connected with their loved ones.

The Oakham Grange team believe that all who read their CQC report will believe they live up to their mantra of ‘Care as it should be … we care like family’
