A dementia-friendly environment that feels like home

A thoughtfully designed dementia care environment

Every aspect of Oakham Grange has been thoughtfully designed to support residents living with dementia. From soft natural lighting and calm communal spaces to carefully planned layouts and colour cues, the environment has been created to reduce confusion and encourage reassurance and familiarity.

Residents’ bedrooms feature colour-coded front doors to help with recognition and orientation, while personalised memory boxes outside each room provide familiar photographs and treasured items that help residents feel connected to their own identity and life story.

Our home is divided into three welcoming Households - Sandpiper, Osprey and Avocet - each with its own lounges, dining areas and access to outdoor spaces. This smaller community approach helps residents feel more settled and comfortable while encouraging meaningful social interaction and companionship.

Daily life at Oakham Grange is centred around gentle engagement and familiar routines. Residents are encouraged to take part in activities that feel meaningful and enjoyable, whether spending time in the garden, helping with baking, enjoying music sessions or participating in reminiscence activities designed to encourage conversation and connection.
