For first time respite we always recommend a minimum 2 week stay. The first week will always feel a little strange as you get to know us and we get to understand your preferences. The second week is when the resident really gets to feel part of the home, relaxes with new friends and enjoys the social side of life at Oakham Grange. The second week is also the time those enjoying a break from being a carer at home have relaxed enough to benefit from a full night’s sleep.
What is included in a respite or short-stay placement?
Respite residents receive the same level of personalised care as those staying with us long-term. This includes 24-hour support, medication management, home-cooked meals, daily activities, access to all communal areas and a private en-suite bedroom. We assess respite residents as we would a long-term stay, to ensure we can support clinical needs as well as their holistic ones, this way we can tailor each stay around the resident’s routines, preferences and wellbeing needs.
